Good photography for Pinterest

Businesses of all types are realizing that the exploding social media channel Pinterest, is quickly becoming one of the best word-of-mouth sources on the Internet.

With this heightened interest in Pinterest, it is important to realize one of the biggest mistakes you can make on your brand’s collateral, website or blog: not investing enough in photography.

The reason your photography is so important is because when someone “pins” your material to Pinterest, none of your copy is attached to the pin.  Pinterest only grabs the selected pictures from your website and then allows the “pinner” to add their own caption. If you have poor quality photographs or pictures that are too small for Pinterest to grab your brand will not be well represented on Pinterest.

On the flip side, beautiful photography and original design are adored on Pinterest.  If your brand’s images can capture users attention they have the potential to spread like wildfire among pinners.

Investing in great photography for your brand collateral, website or blog may be one of the smartest social media moves your brand can make. With 10.4 million users, Pinterest is very quickly becoming the number one place in social media where consumers share retail products. It may be time to re-evaluate your website and make sure that it is pin-friendly.
